This week we attended the Local Area Partnership SEND ‘Deep Dive’ chaired by The Department for Education with support from The Care Quality Commission. Senior officers from Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust were quizzed about their progress in addressing:
Priority Action 1 – the long waiting times for community paediatrics, the autism/ADHD pathway, OT and physiotherapy.
Priority Action 2 – genuine co-production with children and young people with SEND at a strategic level.
As always, we shared the views and experiences of Worcestershire’s parent carers and gave robust challenge where appropriate. The results of the Deep Dive will be summarized in a letter from the DfE and we will make sure to update you as we hear more.
